What if you Could Transform a Life?
What would you do today, if a young child from Mozambique were rifling through the trash, alone and scared or with other children like themselves with no parents and no adult to protect them? Would you step in? Would you fly to where they are and take care of them like your own flesh and blood? Would you have the radical faith and the strong foundation in God needed to change the lives of thousands of children?
That’s what Rolland and Heidi Baker did. God used this married couple to go to Mozambique and change the lives of thousands of children. On the first three nights, Heidi sat on the street with these beautiful children, with no place to lay her own head as her husband rushed into the city to ask the government for a building where they can bring these kids and care for them.
Then a series of miracles took place. A stranger, a fellow missionary, had been leaving and handed Heidi their apartment keys. They did not know each other, but Heidi now had a place to lay her head and not just hers either. The children that were digging through the dumpster would now come home with her.
You see, Heidi and Rolland’s ministry would stretch throughout Mozambique and be tested very early on when the very government that gave them the building took it away because they were teaching kids about Jesus. Yet the kids wanted to continue to follow Jesus and be with Heidi and Rolland. They were being provided education, care, beds, food, and most importantly getting to know Jesus and getting to experience the love of Christ.
They continue their ministry, IrisGlobal, through many countries. IrisGlobal has a powerful program, Stop For The One, where people can sponsor a child and this program helps cover their needs month to month.
I was truly surprised to see how their sponsorship worked. Instead of one person covering the entire monthly need of $150 per child, they could help sponsor a partly sponsored child or fully sponsor a child. I realized this unlocked the possibility of more children being sponsored. If someone feels like they can only spare $30 a month, then they can either sponsor a child that is already 20-80% sponsored or they can begin sponsoring a child who hasn’t been sponsored at all yet.
Living Water Organics began our sponsorship journey with your help and that’s why we’ve been this transparent about it because it isn’t just us giving, it’s all of us. Every customer has helped us reach this milestone. Now we are able to partly sponsor two children (one who was already sponsored 60% and the other 20%). The first child is now fully sponsored with your help and those who began sponsoring her before us! The second child can still be sponsored more and we hope to have the honor to do that with our next donation that we’ll be making soon!
